Introduction

College Emphasis

ATS Seminary focuses on Bible Exposition, along with Systematic Theology and Christian Ministry. All students are required to take the core subjects without exception. However, when it comes to departmental focus, students have the option to choose their area of specialization—Biblical Studies, Theology, or Practical Theology. The student's thesis paper reflects their chosen specialization or area of departmental focus.

Seminary Education

In seminary education, the department typically refers to the academic focus or field of study within the larger discipline of theology. For Bachelor and Master students, their thesis paper often reflects their chosen area of interest or specialization, which can influence their academic or professional trajectory.

Specialization or Department Decision

Thesis Content and Focus

  • A thesis on biblical interpretation (exegesis) would likely align with the Biblical Studies department.
  • A study on church leadership and pastoral care would fit under Practical Theology.
  • A focus on systematic doctrines or theological concepts might align with Systematic Theology.
  • Research on the historical development of the church would fall into Church History.

Impact on Academic Progression

Specialization Recognition

The department linked to the thesis may become the student’s area of academic concentration, which could appear on their transcript as their specialization.

Future Academic or Ministry Goals

Students often choose their thesis topic based on their intended ministry or academic goals, allowing the thesis to serve as a capstone project that highlights their expertise in a particular area.
